Over the weekend there was finally an appropriate response by women suffering from vaginal mesh side effects as they protested at Saskatoon City Hospital. “
As a practicing physician/lawyer I believe there was a breakdown in oversight of the medical device makers that they took advantage of to sell defective devices that were implanted in thousands of women. Women must demand a proper response from the medical and legal communities. The medical community must identify centers of excellence that can remove the mesh and treat the nerve pain and dysfunction it causes. The legal community must individualize the damage claims for every single victim.
Protesters gathered outside Saskatoon City Hospital on the weekend to warn women about the possible complications of a procedure designed to prevent incontinence and other problems for women. The event included several women from across the province who suffered serious complications and others who paid tens of thousands of dollars to have it reversed.
